Here’s a trivia: Paint Protection Films were originally designed for war zones as a way to protect helicopter rotor blades and other sensitive parts of military transports against flying shrapnel and debris. These films had to be both inconspicuous and low-weight. In fact, paint protection films are still used in by the military in the present day, and a wide variety of aerospace and military films are constantly being made.

Paint Protection Film : After Care

While Paint Protection Film is undoubtedly the penultimate of automotive paint protection, it is not indestructible. When taken well care of, they can last for years. Here is a couple of things to keep in mind when taking care of a vehicle with film:

1. DO NOT wash the car upto 4 days after initial pick up from the studio.

2. Hand wash only, every 2 weeks, under a shade. AVOID running your coated vehicle through automatic car washes with brushes. It may cause edges to lift permanently or deposit debris.

3. Dry your vehicle completely after every wash. While it is more difficult to cause long term hard water spot problems in film, it will happen with repetitive water left on the surface.

4. DO NOT wax on top of the film.

5. To honor the warranty, it is required by most ceramic coating and paint protection film manufacturers that you bring your car to a certified installation center once a year for an annual inspection and decontamination.
